we have played a lot of music from håkan over the years and even had the chance to collaborate with him for one fantastic remix, but this time we go for a 2 tracker showing håkan’s great versatility and ability to go from one genre to another while keeping his original and diverse touch. andrey potyomkin is one of our artists from Kazakhstan that participated to the Tronicstan record last year. He delivers a quite smooth and deep techno remix here… a young eastern producer to follow.

in 1999, when he was only 12 years old, he started to contribute actively and played at various parties – at that time rather at private and illegal ones. he made his first musical attempts using a play station. while his mates were playing super mario and pac man, he tried to get crazy sounds out of the console and he was quite successful at it. 1 year later he began to produce his first tracks on his computer.

in 2006 he released his first record “the art of m” on weave music. and just at its predecessor “anin”, the records were played by many well-known djs.

matt starr describes his musical style as follows: “everything i like or microphunk”. he plays everything from ambient and trip hop stuff to rather hard techno – everything he likes, depending on the mood. but in the clubs he mostly goes ahead in a pretty strict and determined way: “it’s got to make people dance! it has to be groovy!”

touane´s dancefloor-oriented, yet funky series of 12¨s have caught the ttention of djs and music lovers around the globe since his signing with stewart waker´s persona records back in 2004.

An italian expatriate who found his new home in Berlin some five years ago, like most of the contemporary electronic music producers Marco found in the german Hauptstadt the ideal habitat to develop his art. From here, he has been able to make himself a name through a series of releases which instantly displayed an original approach to techno, still avoiding to blindly follow the consolidated trends and revivals which seem to come up one after the other in the underground dance music scene. Appearing soon on the map as one of Italy’s most respected electronic music producers, ever since Marco kept providing in various forms quality electronic music and an entertaining live show.

The consolidation of Tonni’s talents came first with the chart-topping single Bassic, licensed for Fabric Live – Tiefschwarz and for XLR8R’s Berlin Issue compilation CD back in 2006; then with releases on Dumb-Unit, Trenton, Regular, Liebe*Detail, Resopal, Minisketch, Lan Muzic, he’s been able to trigger a successful serie of tours which spread from the U.S. to Japan,  and while he appears regularly in some of Europe finest clubs he keeps evolving his live show bringing together the energy of the funk and the sharpness proper of the  manipulation of sounds via cutting edge electronics.

On the way to release his third album, the follow up to 2007 Figura, Touane keeps up with his tradition of more laidback and daring music on his longer efforts: Self Quote, which will be released as  a 2 part album, will be out this autumn on Miami’s Schematic.

More hectic activity is soon to come from the man, since 2009 will also see the launch of Marco’s own imprint, Left Handed , which will establish a small home base for the core of his productions, songs and sound design. Left Handed will feature exclusively Touane’s music, and is intended as a free field of expression for dancefloor inspired excursions.

SLG is Lukasz Seliga, producer hailing from industrial city of Lodz, Poland. Rooted in both techno and house music with a strong funk flavor, he has been releasing records since 2005.

His debut EP “Quarter Past Eleven”, released on a small label from Dusseldorf – Level Records, was charted in Groove Magazine’s prestigious Top 50 and reviewed as “excitingly fresh interpretation of deep minimal house”.

Shortly after SLG started producing for Cologne’s famous Trapez, where he has been releasing his techno-oriented tracks.

The highly acclaimed “Nine Hours” EP and the excellent “Caffeine” were played by artists from all across the electronic scene. Lukasz himself started to get a very busy tour schedule. His expressive live set takes him from Rashomon in Rome to Watergate (Berlin), Londons finest T-bar or to his favorite Club Asia (Tokyo).

In the meantime he has also worked with Mike Shannon’s Cynosure imprint and Catz’n'Dogz own Channels Records and was asked to remix for labels like Morris Audio or Pulver.

After a recording hiatus SLG is back with a deep funk sound, inspired by classic house and detroit-esque soulful techno.

Dubbed an “elegant dark lord of the dance floor” by XLR8R Magazine, Alland Byallo is a DJ, producer, label owner, graphic designer and event organizer – a tour de force within the club and underground music scenes.

Born in Los Angeles, Alland began his musical journey at a young age. Trying his hand at piano and trumpet as a young boy and influenced by the experimental electronic sounds of the late 80s and early 90s, Alland grew captivated with the world of dance music, bought his first pair of turntables and eventually began experimenting with basic production. While working at WAX Records, LA’s now defunct authority on dance music, Alland’s tastes matured, and a move to San Francisco in 2003 saw Alland’s star rise quickly; while in SF, Alland honed his talents DJ-ing at respected venues stateside and overseas, started his own an underground dance music label named Nightlight Music and launched one of California’s most inspired techno-focused nightclub events, the monthly [KONTROL].

Gaining global attention producing gems for definitive record labels like Poker Flat, Liebe*Detail, Dirt Crew and Missive, by the time Alland garnered four stars from influential web-based dance music magazine Resident Advisor for his original full-length album release, Brick By Brick (2009), Alland’s devotion to the techno-house sound was plain and his fate as one of dance music’s major talents was reasonably sealed.

At the same time, Alland’s ongoing DJ residency at [KONTROL] found him sharing the stage with a roster of talent that reads like a who’s who in electronic music, leading to a solid demand for Alland at dance music gatherings around the globe – often as a headliner at renowned events and venues like Berlin’s Panoramabar, Brazil’s D-Edge, Detroit’s annual DEMF Movement Festival, Munich’s Harry Klein and Tokyo’s La Fabrique, among many others.

More recently, a move to Berlin has Alland expanding his horizons and focusing not only on DJ-ing and producing but also, adding a greater organic touch to his productions – more vocals, more experimentation, and dare it be said, a little more soul.

initially the “born detroiter” in his boyhood had his first rhythmic taste by way of the little drummer boy set for 8 years. starting in the mid-nineties what followed was the stefanik big-bang: research, reading, slangin goods, learning, cash collection, looting of the hard wax, the development of an affinity for the proper records, laying sets in the berlin strong box, adding new wrinkles to his sound… until he then belonged to those who had taken such a dose of the electro that there was no turning back. clearly, the fella had driven this musical tonal activity deep into the folds of his grey matter. heart and sensibility now share the proper place: “maybe i am a lost romantic. soul…that’s what’s important. the heart must be there!” together with stefan wesemann as urban force he affects a unique vision from dub, electronic, & techno. further stations of his production and dj activity are statik entertainment including digital label-instabil, cargo edition, moon harbour, tanzmann & stefanik, dessous, mobilee, a residency as dj in the distillery in leipzig and club zooma plauen, and not to forget his numerous remixes with the completely special stefanik-feder (feather).

the playful multifaceted-nous, mental impact and nerdy aesthetic of his musicals put different stylistic facets to: dub, house, techno, minimal-, & maximalist tonal imagery, in addition to the detroit bow each with weight and pitch as an adjustable parameter, seeping into the stefanik-esque production ­ a script without rigid limits!

his behavior stems from his passion as a dj: pure sensibility, compelled movement, studied intensity, situational fine-feeling and sheer lust always form statements for the public and for himself. the end of 2008 saw a special heartfels occasion with the album “reactivity” on static entertainment ­ a truth, on many levels worked hybrid from the dub world, harmonic riffs, ambient moments paired off with depth and visionary impact from house and techno. in the here and now there is daniel stefanik at the like-minded freude am tanzen camp, with his first release, which in 2008 was blessed with the `licht of vinyl’ being itself a true enriching of the opulent fat-catalog. his art is to reduce at just the right place, thereby the quintessence of the music is brought to the fore and at the same time a feeling of frivolity is left behind.

frank martiniq is an international dj, producer and sound design pioneer. his unique vision of electronic dance music, combined with his talent, dynamism and experimental projects have acted as a springboard, propelling him to the forefront of house and techno global club scenes.

it all started in 1991, germany, frank martiniq devoted his life to analogue instruments and electronic music. it’s got to be said that any dj who turns up to play with 30 kilos of vinyl in tow is serious and frank martiniq wouldn’t ever consider packing any less. his no-nonsense dj sets encompass everything from chicago house to dub techno and venture through prime detroit cuts.

this massive spectrum of sound is needed to build his ideal four hour dj set which begins at the opening slot and builds elegantly right through to a massive 4/4 prime time. and if you ever get the chance to see one of his ultra rare live sets, drop everything and go, he cracks out the most alien analogue machines you will ever see but only for the most exciting parties. these dance floor shaking sensibilities have seen him take to the technics of the biggest clubs in bejing, berlin, london and detroit.

in the studio frank creates with both with hardware and software. he’s canny about his production methods and he has a reason to be, since his first release in 1995 he’s been on to an unmistakeably good thing. this is the man whose 12” “adriano” on boxer recordings sold out in just two days, and who went on to release a dozen 12” and three double lp albums on the imprint. this huge body of work built up production skills that are, to put it lightly, enviable. so much so, that the legendary native instruments recruited him as a sound designer for reaktor 4, reaktor 5, massive and maschine.

frank martiniq has always been a reference point in international electronic music whether based in kiel or cologne, but 2009 saw him make the logical move to berlin. he relocated to the capital and was commissioned to work on a prestigious, experimental sound design project for the max-planck institute. frank was challenged to create sounds that envisioned 20 years from now and he single handedly designed soundscapes from the sizzling of synapses to the droning of digitalisation. the futuristic project entitled “the science express” toured through 60 towns to international critical acclaim. as for his own future, frank is constantly reconfiguring his sound, getting ever more creative: releasing his deep techno direction on stroboscopic artefacts, playing shows internationally and is busy in the studio working on visionary sounds for his fifth studio album.

sid lerock (aka pan/tone, gringo grinder) is one of canada’s leading electronic producers with 6 albums under his belt and well over 50 singles..and climbing!. he remixed for depeche mode, fairmont, placebo and did collaborations with dj koze, ada, metope and jake fairley.

sid lerock was born and raised in the northern regions of ontario, canada. moving constantly from one small town to another cold and desolate town due to his fathers search for work as a uranium minor / lumberjack. sid left the family cabin to make the move of his own. first to windsor where it was there, in the neighboring city of detroit that he first made contact with techno music during its famous underground warehouse parties. he then made the jump to the big city of toronto to study music engineering. it was there that he become more involved in techno as a life choice career rather then just as a avid listener. feeling that itch to move again, as it was a thing that seemed natural for him to do based on his upbringing. sid lerock made the overseas voyage to cologne, germany in 2003. he was in the first wave of the north american invasion to europe. the success and demand for his music allowed him to live in europe since then, where he presently resides in berlin.

sid has been producing as well as performing live since 1998. his unique brand of music, which blends modern dance floor electronics with rock n roll esthetics is what makes his music sound so explosive and captivating to the ears. you can feel all levels of raw emotion with sid’s need to express this through melody and what he claim’s as “the human error factor”. he says, “no matter how well you think your in sync with the crowd, its best when the unexpected digital hiccups occur. then, thats when i feel most connected to everyone. the errors and how you have to quickly recover from them is what proved to be my best performances. people just want to hear the human behind the machines.”

born and raised in gent, belgium with a pair of firm italian roots. spent his childhood dreaming of interstellar voyage, alien invasion and skies filled with colony spaceships… side effects of a daily overdose of television-infused sci-fi images.

he first came in contact with electronic music in his childhood, right in the middle of the breakdance craze, backspinnin’, body poppin’, to the electro boogie of grandmaster flash, africa bambaataa, jonzun crew… needless to say, he got infected by the electro bug at an early age.

by the end of the 80′s, belgium came under the new beat spell, which opened up an entirely new world, directly followed by the first insidious acid tunes. franco has always been influenced by the more atmospheric, either moody or darker tunes. so when detroit techno arrived at the scene, his mind completely absorbed the deeper techno vibes from artists like carl craig, juan atkins, dan curtin… but it didn’t stop there. afx, autechre and other seminal artists who pushed the envelope even more, irrevocably shaped his mind to the more experimental side of electronic music, coming from labels like warp, skam, rephlex…

all of these influences define what franco cangelli is musically all about. his djing skills and production work cover different styles to satisfy his incessant need for further musical exploration.

as a dj his favourite spinning styles at the moment are minimal techno & clickhouse and electronica. a typical minimal set for him includes relentless bleeps and clicks, dysfunctional melodies and jacking beats, gently spiced with some deep detroit techno, acidic tunes and experimental techno.

electronica-wise, he has an extensive collection of ambient, chill electronics and idm to choose from, to build up a nice colourful canvas of experimental soundscapes and beats.

as a producer, his production is aimed at channeling deep emotional content through deep and minimal techno, experimental or dark electronica, or any other style that suits its purpose. his debut release was on the belgian toys for boys imprint and there are future releases coming up on the new london sushitech label, which will deliver some deep minimal and experimental techno. check out the ‘observe’ section for more info.

born in the seventies and shaped by the eighties, thal started out as a dj and techno event organiser in the nineties. having found exciting friends in an atari 1024 and various synthesisers and samplers, the following years passed with many unforgettable parties, gigs and long studiosessions with his pal mikdat.

after some successful projects in 2004 as a vj with his thalvision organisation, in 2005 his studio production came sharply back into focus. aside from that, among a host of gigs, the highlight was his legendary set for car manufacturer smart at the geneva auto show bringing the international crowd to a frenzy.

2007 was a key year in which he began his productions with buddies from afrilounge resulting in the “supafreak ep” on the hamburg label “flug von welt”. in a short time this ep made it into the charts of many top djs. impressed by his skills, uk legend russ gabriel contacted thal shortly afterwards and the pair embarked on their production partnership focussing on the more musical and soulful side of techno and resulting in releases on ferox and swiss label morris audio. they then went on to form the multimedia project rt-transmissions which encompassed the rt-transmissions radio show broadcast in stuttgart (germany), dublin (ireland), tijuana (mexico) and zagreb (croatia) among others.

in 2008 and 2009 der thal found his place in the record bags of jimpster, josh wink, alex attias, quarion, dj deep, rainer trueby, ewan pearson, anja schneider, pheek, thomas schumacher and others with his successful 12″ releases as a solo artist. included here are the “mentona ep” on berlin imprint trenton and the “lassur ep” on meerestief’s sublabel moonpool.

but that‘s just one side of todd‘s musical activities, being a dj on the floors of international known clubs [...]]]> todd bodine

born in berlin, todd bodine is a musical child par excellence of germany‘s capital of electronic music. strongly influenced by the atmosphere after the fall of the berlin wall he took his first credits as a resident dj in the world famous tresor club. the place where he performs his actionloaded dj-sets once a month untill today.

but that‘s just one side of todd‘s musical activities, being a dj on the floors of international known clubs in barcelona, paris, tokyo or rio de janeiro, just to name a few. beside this career he‘s active as a producer since the year 2001 – and that with great success. at the beginning stood releases on the berlin based cabinet record, followed by releases on tom clark‘s highgrade records, the swiss morris audio label and last but not least: tresor records. with tom clark he shares a longterm creative friendship, which is by all means not the only reason why todd bodine is an essential part of the highgrade-artists-family, thus beeing one of the most profilic musicians from that label.

beside several ep‘s, todd bodine allready did two albums: „different engines“ was released in 2005 on morris audio, followed by „surfaces“ one year later on tresor. two hihglights in todd‘s discography for sure, but clearly not the end. other eps on treibstoff records or claude van strokes mothership label are belonging to his portfolio too. as well as a couple of remixes and releases on international known labels like immigrant (manchester) or sub conce (spain). as if this is not enough, todd works together with several musical buddies: dub taylor (a.k.a. tigerskin), dj fx from berlin or the frankfurt based highgrade-newcomer ludwig coenen.

in march 2007 it was about time to take the next level of putting his musical visions into practice. after half a year of preparing it, todd began to perform as liveact. he started this with a big bang – with playing live at berlin‘s finest – the panorama bar. another very successfull project of todd was born. so he plays for instance both as a liveact and as a dj across many floors all over europe on the „our thing“ clubtour 2008 to the highgrade jubilee.

without a doubt todd bodine has his own place in the rows of berlins most important producers – on the one side as a heavily booked dj, on the other side as a profilic producer or as an energetic live performing artist – whatever he‘s about, „it has to rock!“

till is a typical urban kid; growing up in the nineties with skateboarding and hip hop, he was running his own street wear shop for seven years until he in 2006 decided to focus 100% on his music career.

besides working as the booking agent for a number of infamous german acts, till is also a heavily acclaimed dj and producer with releases on labels like supplement facts, suol and dirt crew recs, with collaborations with tigerskin, aera, chopstick, catz’n'dogz etc. and with remixes on ministry of sound, plastic city and many others on the discography.

his heart and dedication, however, is to be found in dj’ing. for the past two years he has been travelling all over the world; south africa, japan, us and all over europe never letting the dancefloor down. a dj set from till von sein is soulful and pop infused, you for sure never know what you are gonna get – only thing certain is, that it will be some wicked stuff.

right now he is working on his first solo album for suol which will be out by the end of the year.

d opposite d are currently very busy in the studio producing a new set of remixes and original tracks. they are also busy establishing a new label, phase shift records, which will be the instrument that will allow talented producers to explore and push the boundaries of house music in its various forms: tech house, minimal, progressive, and deep house.

born in 1974, stewart walker began toying with music at an early age, writing songs at the age of 5 about his ambitions to become a rock star. years of structured guitar and piano lessons afforded stewart a strong musical background and the ability to gain aptitude from later experimentation.

high school and college were defined by frequent day trips to record shops, sifting through used bins hoping to snag the new promo cutouts of the day, and late nights spent sitting in front of his guitar amp with the reverb turned all the way up.  about midway through this time, he became conscious of the electronic music bouncing around the college radio airwaves. habitually tuning in to hear a techno-pop, industrial and ebm show plus one focused solely on house music, stewart began recording tracks from these programs that he found inspiring. in 1992 he bought his first drum machine and became infatuated with plugging it into his guitar amp and manipulating beats for hours.

the fascination with electronic sound grew into an obsession and before long it became essential for stewart to purchase his first sampler.  using this piece of equipment he started constructing music in a sequencer and as a result, his tracks started progressing into the techno genre. his earliest releases from 1997 appeared on detroit’s matrix records and shortly afterwards came his first european release.  this period was marked by great productivity as stewart had finally quit his day-job to pursue making music on a full-time basis.

with his records gaining popularity among djs, he began accepting offers to perform live locally, which resulted in a slight predicament. the dilemma stewart faced was how to perform live using his limited studio setup. lacking a dj background, he found his initial performances intimidating yet educational for it was early on that stewart gained an appreciation for the vitality generated from crowd interaction at live performances.  this energy was non-existent in the studio, but he noted its influence on his sound and considered it a critical part of the creative process.

as stewart continued making a name for himself in the techno music scene his releases followed on well-known labels – tresor, force inc., and richie hawtin’s m-nus imprint. each new release brought greater acclaim and thus he was able to perform more frequently and in increasingly exotic locales. hooking up with sven väth’s cocoon booking agency based in frankfurt guaranteed his ability to play in europe as often as he wanted.

the differences in music requirements (preferences? hard vs. soft, danceable vs. listenable) in europe and the usa pushed stewart to work more and more on perfecting his live techniques until he felt confident that he could match a dj in intensity and stamina every night. (having two styles has resulted in a demand for stylistically different releases.  he’s flexible, and able to perform music as prescribed by the situation/vibe of the audience at hand.)

in 2001, stewart decided to found his own label and christened it “persona” with the sole intention of bringing personality back into the genre of techno. the label is devoted to releasing recorded works that retain originality and avoid the made-for-dj copout. stewart remains committed to defying techno music standards by playing live and pushing himself to interact with his audience, resulting in intimate shows consistently characterized by a fresh/sharp/cutting-edge sound.

in the december of 2003, stewart packed up his life and left boston and the usa to move to berlin and participate in the more vibrant european electronic music community. since then he has been recording remixes for such labels as kitty-yo, tongut, and tuning spork; he’s also been practicing his sprache during the week, and performing in a european capital every weekend. he has recently finished a downtempo album entitled “grounded in existence” scheduled for release in march 2005.

dan curtin’s lengthy musical quest began in early 1990s cleveland, ohio, and continues today in berlin, germany, where the pioneering dj and producer carries on defying conventions and pushing boundaries with mobilee records.

taking original inspiration from the early eras of techno and electro, curtin has experimented with a vast number of styles, producing innovative stateside sounds of every variety. his fascination with electronic music was sparked a decade earlier as he discovered the burgeoning hip-hop movement, along with new wave, electro, and other sonic innovations of the 1980s. further futuristic explorations of house and techno prompted curtin’s own studio-based experimentations, which soon became his primary focus.

curtin’s impressive discography dates back to 1992, with his first releases for detroit’s 33rpm records and belgium’s buzz records. he soon inked his own production hub, metamorphic recordings, which remains actively committed to quality techno and electronica to this day. curtin’s unwillingness to restrict himself to a singular style has been instrumental to releases like his albums silicon dawn, web of life and art & science on peacefrog records, and work for further influential imprints such as strictly rhythm and sublime.

in 2003 curtin shifted towards a funkier production sound, and his creative instincts prompted him to immerse himself within the fast-paced electronic music scene of berlin. this relocation triggered a string of well-received releases for labels such as tuning spork, klang elektronik, soma, leena and mobilee records, which released his ninth opus lifeblood in 2010.

all the while curtin has cemented his international reputation as a dj, appearing at many of the world’s best clubs, and honing a style that is always aware of the vital give-and-take relationship between the dj and the dancefloor. over 70 singles, 9 albums and 20 years later, curtin is as innovative and vital as he has ever been. his refusal to limit himself to one style, and his unique ability to collaborate with artists from a variety of genres has helped him retain his individuality, and confirmed his legendary status.

some years after, while acheiving succesful music teacher studies, she met the wrong steps crew and started collaborating as song-writer, arranger, vocalist and keyboard player with spiro projecto, martinez, pawel kobak. this lead her to have some releases with names like jori hulkkonen or dan curtin.

more recently alvina has been recording songs with hakan lidbo, raph dumas, alton miller, and released instrumental deep tech-house tracks together with manuel perez for labels like lace or nice & nasty.

since 1994, he has engaged in the scene on the peninsula, first in naples with promoters ivan and susi at villa, then at acropolis where he played with djs such as darren emerson and paul daley. in 1995 he became resident dj at east side and in june moved to rimini, where he collaborated with several clubs such as the ecu (as resident dj), cellophane, cocoricò, prince, echos, etc etc. he has also mixed and writen soundtracks for fashion shows such as switch jeans, ferrè in milan, christian dior in paris, and played in various parties connected to the fashion world.

in the years between 1996 and 2000 he started the liquid project in florence based on a global electronic music style accompanied by graphic images in a visual installation, at many clubs including: tenax and central park going through major events like luigi pecci contemporary art center in prato and stazione leopolda.

in 1997 he reached another milestone, begining work with the link in bologna, which is a social center for cutting-edge music and theater, where he had continued to work  for almost 10 years. in 1998 he returned to live in london and opened an important monthly event at the 333 and at open and played music in clubs such as leisure lounge and fridge bar.

in 1999 he began dj monthly resident at ex mud in florence for the apnea evening which was a cult event for drum and bass (1999-2000). since 2000 he has began a collaboration, that has gone on for years, with distorsonie, the electronic music festival in bologna.

in 2001 he moved to madrid where played for the club sofà (mercado de fuen carral). in the same year he bought his first sampler and the passion for composition was born in him.

in 2002, he lived in the capital, rome, where he played around at many clubs : testaccio, sonar, metaverso, bocciodromo and participated in the radio program “the zone”.

in 2003 he was resident dj at fico d’india in gallipoli. also at that time working with the led monthly meeting of electronic music in bologna. he also supported many gigs as  dj for: attica blues, tricky, telefon tel aviv, subsonica and atom heart.

in 2005 he graduated as a sound engineer at the sae. from 2004 to 2011 he continues to develop his sound and has worked in many clubs in italy and sardinia. in 2010 he joined the trenton family, with the project bolero.

he is resident dj at bar la posta, a famous bar in san teodoro, where he is also working with the sun & bass and june music festivals.

manuel perez has been active in the modern dance music scene for several years as a producer and remixer. his reputation has been built upon his long, international dj career. he was the owner of the wrong steps label in sweden, and more recently became a key member of marendadisc’s artist collective.

manuel began djing in the mid-eighties where he became a resident at the best clubs in south-west france and catalonia. during this period, he introduced early house and techno to a wider audience, working at legendary clubs like château de fitou and rachdingue. later, he played at early rave events, often inviting mc’s and live musicians to perform during his sets.

soon enough, his reputation spread overseas and for more than 20 years manuel has djed in many countries. he has been billed alongside the biggest names in the electronic music industry, such as derrick may, rhythm doctor, soul ii soul, underworld, system7, paul oakenfold, dimitri, eartha kitt, larry heard, bandulu, alex reece, the aloof, kid creole, george morel, stonebridge, luke slater, jori hulkkonen, joel mull, jesper dahlbäck, adam beyer, aqua bassino, paul johnson, robert armani, jon marsh (the beloved), claude monnet, richard dorfmeister, erik rug, robert hood, aril brikha, ivan smagghe, steve rachmad, llorca, marco pasarani, håkan lidbo, bob sinclar, jennifer cardini, david duriez, patrick pulsinger and many more…

in 1993, he moved to stockholm, where he made friends who pushed him to get seriously involved in music production. as a result, his first important release was the “strong accents” single on loop records, recorded with alexi delano and cari lekebusch. many releases followed on labels like plumphouse, loop, g-force and step2house. manuel also produced remixes for labels such as warner and mnw. he co founded the svek label, before launching his own wrong steps productions studio and label.

in 1996, he met french percussionist philippe monrose and they created the spiro projecto, an electronic fusion act involving various guest musicians and vocalists. their mutual studio and stage experience has enabled them to create spiro concerto, a percussive live act delivering serious dance-floor action on an exotic tip. they were making world-lounge-electronic type music long before it became trendy. their work was released via obscure 12″ ep’s and singles, with many of the tracks surfacing later on compilations like “hotel costes”, and labels like yoshitoshi and turbo. many of their titles have also been remixed by artists such as raph dumas, jori hulkkonen, ymc and even the beloved.

in 2003, manuel decided to move to the french mediterranean coast ( north of barcelona,) where he could enjoy life in a peaceful environment. still djing and producing, manuel perez also works as consultant for local cultural institutions.

always staying true to his vision of entertainment, manuel has invested time and energy into his studio activities. he has produced, mixed and mastered albums for various record companies. he has also released collaborations with artists like pawel kobak, fredrik stark, jesper dahlbäck, microman, nico bellotto, alberto vicente, mourad sliti, ron de cuba, brice bertran, aqua bassino and martinez. he has remixed acts and producers like brooklyn funk essentials, martin venetjoki, håkan lidbo, dalminjo, minimalbcn, max cherry, ctrl+alt+supp, uninvited partners, popcorn, the delivery boy, tomm jobb & dj janoz, thérese racket, orlando voorn, mark o’sullivan, reynold, alton miller, rennie foster, justin harris.

manuel is currently recording with alvina red aside of producing and remixing for several labels, he is also working on a new live act with raph dumas. there is more to come in the future…

these well established parties at annabar and casino club berlin drew quite some attention and became an integral part of the berlin electronic music scene as well as a concept to promote international exchanges of similar constellation throughout europe. various international ‘berliner stadtmusikanten’ gigs took place in graz (houseverbot)., antwerp (lowlands, usa import), and vice versa guest dj teams were invited to berlin.

after joining the ‘clique booking’ team in 2005 and releasing his first own tracks in 2007 on ‘trenton records’ the doors were open for a more international career and many booking requests from well know clubs around the globe proved the demand for his unique style comprising of a strong berlin minimal background spiced with techhousy and spheric spatial elements which are also typical for the releases that followed in the last 2 years.

the cultural service of the french embassy, the goethe institute and the french alliance network in kazakhstan launched the second edition of eurotronic in order to explore the advances of computer technologies and the richness of fusion of genres with an attempt to mix acoustic and electronic music. eurotronic 2010 was an original project of knowledge exchanges between europe, kazakhstan and kirghizistan through a collective work of electronic music creations integrating acoustic elements of traditional melodies from central asia.

the first step of the project consisted on a collective work of music creation between two experimented djs and electronic music composers from france (reynold) and germany (rene breitbarth) and djs and acoustic musicians from kazakhstan and kirghizstan. reynold worked with the artists in astana while rene was in almaty with his group. kazakh musicians were recorded on the 1st day and these recordings used as samples to compose and produce electronic dance tracks. the whole workshop was focused on exploring european cutting edge underground style of music called something like “minimal deep house”. after one week of hard work both workshop ended with nine tracks plus one more track from reynold and rene so a total number of eleven tracks. the tronikstan cd was born.

we are proud to present past present future, a compilation of exclusive trenton material. past or upcoming releases or even exclusive tracks this whole cd is all about the sound of trenton and our vision of electronic dance music. this recording means so much to us that we decided to put all this music together asking our colleague and friend claudia marquardt aka p.toile to mix each and every track and give it life with her incomparable dj skills and her sense of how to make people dance.

a few words about p.toile now. she’s originally from kiel where she started playing, working on music and organizing parties with the “groove complex” collective made up of kai hellebrandt, dj and trenton artist till von sein and herself. after a 4-year stint in paris, she met reynold. together they decided to set up their own label (trenton) and booking agency (clique bookings). a few years later, they moved to berlin where they currently promote their artists and friends and most of their music.

this compilation is basically the result of 3 years of creative activity and also a way to promote our sound to other ears. we also want to provide our audience with opportunities to get caught by the trenton sound.
